With just one look, it's easy to see why so many people enjoy staying in this adorable little cottage in Aptos village which is in Californa.
Located just a short drive away from the cute coastal town of Santa Cruz, Aptos is a forest haven with a mix of the sea. Perfect for those who want a relaxing stay in a location that's quiet and peaceful. The mushroom cottage got its name because it totally looks like a little mushroom made of wood. Shop Tiny Homes It's a geodesic dome on top of a cylinder base with a little deck and not much else, but you'll feel like you're living out your childhood dreams of sleeping in a treehouse. They book up pretty far in advance, so it's best to book way ahead of time and plan your trip. Otherwise, they also have another cottage called the Hummingbird Haven that is available to rent. It's recommended to book at least 9 to 11 months ahead of time, especially if you want to book a weekend. Kitty, the owner of the cottages, says she's been renting through Airbnb since 2009, and they have had the most reservations made through the site than any other listing. The entire property that the mushroom cottage is on is 10 acres, so you will really get to feel like you're out in the middle of nowhere, submerged in the forest. You can hike through the forest that surrounds the cottages as well as see hummingbirds, pet their goats and even go to the beach which is also nearby. On a clear night, it's easy to see the stars and get lost looking up at the sky.

There's a loft in the mushroom cap with a Queen-sized Casper Mattress fit for two people. All of the sheets, blankets and pillows are also provided. Another bed is in the sofa which can be used if there are going to be two beds needed. There is a charge for more than two people, so just let them know ahead of time as well. Up in the loft, there is a flat screen TV so you can watch movies which they provide - over 80 to choose from so you will always have something to watch on a rainy day or in the evening before bed. Then, on the main floor, there is a sofa with a table as well as a mini fridge, a blender, a popcorn maker, a french press, a kettle and dishes for eating meals. There's also a BBQ on site which you can use to cook your food. Plus, they give you fresh filtered water which is so essential. The little bathroom has a Travertine shower and a Natures Head self-contained composting toilet as well as a sink. There are instructions provided for using the composting toilet, but it's pretty simple and shouldn't have an odor if you use it as instructed.
To stay on a weekend, it's $155 to $160 each night, and they require you to book two nights on the weekends making it somewhere around $428 for the entire weekend.
If you book during the week, for one day it would cost around $200 for your stay. They are only 10 minutes from the beach and the Forest Nisene Marks State Park. They are also only 25 minutes to downtown Santa Cruz. You'll also be able to see some amazing animals like the hummingbirds called Anna Hummingbirds which they usually have at least 300 to 700 of year round. Kitty has a Hummingbird Airport where they have the syrup that feeds them and keeps them healthy. What a magical place to stay for a vacation to reboot and recharge.
