Unique Cottage in the Famous Golden Circle Route of Iceland
Discover a unique, sustainable cottage on Iceland's Golden Circle, blending modern design with nature for an unforgettable getaway.

Unique Cottage Overview
Here is a unique cottage available for rent through Airbnb that was built in 2010. It's located in Uthlid, Iceland which is said to be one of the best areas on the Golden Circle in the Arctic. The cottage was built to emulate the Icelandic landscape and to accompany the surrounding landscape of moss and trees. The home is built in the old lava-field with a Geysir nearby, only 10 minutes away. It's also very close to other attractions that tourists and travellers love to see while they are staying in this part of Iceland. The home is also built green and to be sustainable, with geothermal water systems to keep it warm and cozy year round. Then for the colder days in the winter, there are more heaters that can be used to warm it up. It's also pretty cool that all of the warm water comes from a local hot-spring and the cold water comes from a natural cold spring. The electricity also comes from geothermal energy from a power station nearby. So there are a lot of great, natural and sustainable aspects of this cottage which make it even more desirable.
Unplugging in Nature
While there is no Wifi in the cottage most of the time, they can supply people with a Wifi box for an extra charge, but see this cottage as a great way to unplug from it all and enjoy the relaxing ambiance of the cabin and its surroundings. From the outside, the cottage looks very interesting, the way it's built it looks like a set of small pyramids that are linked together by a rectangular structure in the centre. It's mainly crafted out of wood which makes it look like a 3D version of an A-frame cottage and it also includes some nice glass panels which make it look nice and modern. In fact, the whole tip of one of the pyramids is made out of glass to create an interesting skylight and a cool feature that sets the cottage apart from its mate. Off of the rectangular part of the home, there is a lovely patio that gets a lot of sunlight which would be the perfect place to enjoy the views and the outdoors. There even a playground close by for guests who have kids. On the inside of the home, there are 2 bedrooms with queen size beds and then a small bedroom for a single person. Also, upstairs there is an area that sleeps about 2 to 3 people in sleeping bags on the floor or on an air mattress to make it more comfortable.
Comfort and Amenities
Along with the spacious layout, the home has a great kitchen with an oven, stove and a dishwasher. So guests definitely won't be roughing it here. They can make all of their own meals in the comfort of their own space. The cottage also has a washer and a dryer to do laundry which comes in handy for longer stays. The property also has some berries that grow all around the cottage which can be picked and enjoyed by guests to be eaten or used in recipes. The Great Geysir that is near the cottage is a very popular sight to see while visiting this area and it's great that the cabin is so close to it. The Great Geysir is a geyser in southwestern Iceland, and it was the first geyser that was mentioned in a printed book and the first known Geysir to Europeans. The word geyser comes from the word geysa which means to gush in Old Norse. The eruptions from the geyser can shoot boiling water up to 230 feet in the air, but this doesn't happen very often even though it's been active for over 10,000 years.
