Foundation Options for Durability

Sand Creek Post and Beam barn kits are best designed for use with a concrete foundation. A slab concrete foundation for your barn style house with poured footings is the most popular choice of home foundation. Because of the flexibility of the post and beam barn house construction, a concrete slab, concrete or pier block foundations are all options to use with these barn house structures. As another foundation option, a full or a partial basement can also be used with their barns.

Quality Materials for a Rustic Appeal

In the barn house kits, everything is included except for the foundation, the shingles and the siding nails. Sand Creek Post & Beam use only full dimension six inches by six-inch rough cut wood, both for its authentic, rustic look and for the additional strength that it provides. The result is a beautifully rich and rustic look inside and out. While other species of timber can be ordered for your barn style house, Norway pine and Ponderosa pine are the preferred woods of choice. Norway pine is wood with a straight grain and even texture, with strength properties that are perfect for posts, beams and trusses. Ponderosa pine is the wood known for its lovely toned honey hue and is used when the appearance is of primary importance. Both these woods are easy to work with and have been specially milled to their specifications.
