Keeping with Norfolk’s traditional coastal cottages, this cottage in England is a modern spin on the old classic English cottage. Mole Architects are the ones who designed this lovely cottage, and it's easy to see why they've won awards for their designs. They have a distinctive style that's very original with plenty of personalities. It's also wonderful that they are dedicated to sustainability which is why they constructed this cottage with Passivhouse design standards. The design is so simple, yet it speaks volumes and lends itself to the natural landscapes surrounding the cabin. The sparse and selective use of vibrant colour is a highlight of this cottage that makes guests feel like they're in the city but out in the country at the same time. Add to all of this some of the country’s best coastal views, and you have a winning design and cottage.
The luxury beach house is located just behind the sand dunes of Waxham Beach in England. It's on over an acre of private land so guests will feel at liberty to unplug and unwind. The exterior looks just like the other regular cottages in the area, but with an updated appearance. The large windows add a sense of contemporary style and create continuity with the outside world. There's also a small deck and stairs leading right down to the grass from the patio doors as if to prompt guests to connect with nature by sitting or walking on the grass instead of on a deck.
The cottage itself is very spacious and bright thanks to the vaulted ceilings and brilliant windows. The walls are covered in washed plywood with some colour banding as an accent. The flooring is oak, and they've added beautiful modern style furniture and hints of bright colour here and there to stimulate the senses without overwhelming them. The main living area includes the living room, dining room and kitchen with great views of the land. What a beautiful and clean looking kitchen with the white subway tile, and light coloured wood cabinets. There is also a series of hanging pendant lights in the kitchen that are quite unique adding not only light but colour and visual interest. For cooking, there is a built-in induction cooktop on one of the counters that face outward so guests can be connected to the living area even while cooking.
The owners will usually also leave a complimentary basket of produce and local gourmet foods. There is also Wifi, Smart cable TV, SONOS sound system, and games. The home also has 2 luxury bathrooms, one with a shower and the other with a bathtub and a shower in one. Also, the home has laundry facilities. In total, the cottage has three bedrooms and can accommodate up to 6 people at a time. Families are welcome, as are pets too. The fees start at around £176 per night, and the minimum stay is 3 Nights. So for the same price as a hotel in the city, you could have an entire cottage all to yourself.
There are restaurants and pubs nearby if guests don't feel like cooking. The Nelson Head in Horsey is considered a true Norfolk pub or there is the 15th century Ingham Swan which has a classic pub feel with some of the best food in the area. There is also plenty of history to explore nearby, and there are also lots of areas to enjoy out in nature close by the property. This design shows that you can have a sustainable, efficient design that is very stylish and it would be a wonderful, comfortable place to stay if you're ever in the area.
