Tiny Camper Turns Into Something You Won't Believe

Here's a tiny house on wheels that shows what's possible to do with an old travel trailer.

While many people are building brand new tiny houses on expensive, custom built trailers, there are also people who want to build their houses on a lower budget requiring them to get a little creative with older materials. This tiny house design called the Kirkwood was built using a custom redesigned travel trailer that features a slide out area to expand the space once the house is parked in place. They used a 2004 Fleetwood Prowler travel trailer and included all new fixtures and features to make it more like a conventional home. Shop Tiny Homes By installing windows, some french doors, insulation, appliances, and furniture, the builders were able to turn the travel trailer into a little home on wheels. Since custom built trailers can be quite expensive, people look to using travel trailers like this one to use as a trailer. Custom trailers can cost around $10,000 alone, which is quite expensive and more than some people have to spend on building a tiny house. By getting an old, used travel trailer, people have been able to spend less than $10,000 on their entire tiny house build.

The only thing you'd need to do is make sure that the trailer is level and solid before building a tiny house on it.

The reason most people go with the more pricey, custom built tiny house trailer option is because this is going to give the tiny house the proper foundation it need to be a solid structure. You want to make sure that the foundation is solid, because if anything is off in the foundation, this can cause other things to be off kilter in the build. Many tiny houses on wheels are also looking to be RV certified and building on an old, outdated travel trailer may not meet the codes that are required to be met. However, it's great to see that it's possible to use old trailers because it's a great way to recycle these used items that may just be tossed aside otherwise. Plus, it gives people that option to save money on their tiny house build. In this build, they kept a lot of the original structure and the shape of it and just simply put vinyl siding on over top of the original siding. This really makes it look like a home.

Plus, they added in real windows in place of most, if not all of the RV windows which will make it better insulated for winter as well as provide the look and feel of a normal home.

They were able to fit a lot into this tiny home floor plan too. A bedroom on the main floor with a fold down bed and a nice little closet for clothing. The kitchen is also a great size with a nice sink and countertop space, plus there's an RV size fridge and oven with a built in stove top. The design was also able to fit in a dining room table with four chairs around it, which would be great for family dining. The bathroom features a bathtub and shower unit which is great to have in any home, as well as an RV toilet and a sink and vanity. The living room is able to hold a nice futon with plenty of room to move around. The loft space they created has a fold down ladder for easy access, and it works as a great play area for the kids.
