Get Outdoors. If you and your family love the outdoors the White Mountains have so much to offer. From hiking to fishing and much more you will never run out of outdoor activities.
Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests. The Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests has over two million acres filled with incredible experiences and natural wonders that are open to everyone. Major attractions for visitors from the desert are the Mogollon Rim and eight cold-water lakes. From the Rim’s 7,600-foot elevation, you'll find vista points that provide inspiring views of the low lands to the south. With two million acres, there's something for everyone to see and do. It's called God's Country.
Lakes and Mountains. The Mogollon Rim was made famous by Zane Grey. The White Mountains are made green by ponderosa pine, gentled by cold waters flowing to the valleys below and far beyond. It is a physically challenging and rewarding recreational landscape. A place of spiritual renewal and more.
Sipe Wildlife Area. Sipe White Mountain Wildlife Area is a 1362-acre property managed by the Arizona Game and Fish Department. It offers several short trails, historic and prehistoric cultural sites, and an educational visitors center. The land was purchased in 1993, supports several sensitive species, and provides a winter range for larger animals. There is evidence of human habitation of this area dating from 6000 to 200 BC, which is on display in the visitors center.
White Mountain Apache Hunting and Fishing. The White Mountain Apache Tribe is known for its world-class hunting, excellent fishing, quiet camping, and amazing hikes. Our home is one of the best places in the world for Trophy Elk hunting, drawing in hunters from all over the world, to get a chance at a world-class Trophy Bull Elk. The Sunrise Park Ski Resort turns into a powdery paradise in the winter. During the summer, Sunrise is a dream to escape to, with scenic lift rides, a fourth of July fireworks celebration, an awesome Archery shootout, and great fishing at Sunrise Lake, or one of the many other Lakes or well-stocked streams.
