Leonardo da Vinci lived there at the invitation of King Francis I of France, and whose Chateau d'Amboise dominated the town. The city also has the Pagode de Chateloup, which is a 144 foot tall Chinese Pagoda that was built in 1775 by the Duke of Choiseul.
