This idyllic location is bounded to the north and west by the Severn Estuary and Bristol Channel. The coastline faces southeastern Wales. Somerset is a rural county of beautiful rolling hills, such as the Mendip Hills, Blackdown Hills, and the Quantock Hills. It also has the Exmoor National Park, and large flat expanses of land that includes the Somerset Levels.

The Beauty of the Somerset Levels

Some say that Somerset is the most beautiful spot in England and it's easy to see why with lovely landscapes all around. In the Somerset Levels, you will find church towers, meadows and orchards, and so much more. This vast West Country fenland stretches across 160,000 acres of the waterlogged countryside from Mendips to Taunton. In the midst of it, dominating the land for miles around, stands Glastonbury Tor, the Avalon of Arthurian legend. For hundreds of years, this historic hilltop has wrapped itself in a fantasy world of Dark Age myths.
