The Rich History of Caravans

Caravans often called gypsy vardo wagons to have a long and colorful history. You'll still find today people who travel in this traditional horse-drawn wagon used by the British Romani people for use as their home. Typically the tiny houses have a chimney, these homes are usually thought of as being intricately carved, brightly painted, sometimes gilded, and overall highly decorated. The British Romani tradition of the vardo wagon is seen culturally as being an artistic home design and a work of wood-crafting art. In its heyday, the gypsy living wagons lasted for about 70 years, from the mid-1800s through to the first two decades of the twentieth century.
