The Karhulinna is a beautiful and expansive log house next to pond Pohjaslampi. The cabin is 45 kilometers north of Kuusamo, and Ruka is 18 kilometers away. There is a natural state of the hard sand bottom, pier, and your boat. The log cottage was built in 2012, and has two double bedrooms downstairs, one single, and one double bedroom, an extra double bed and seating area on the top floor, and room for more mattresses in the upstairs living room. The cabin has a combined kitchen/living room with an electric sauna. The water is supplied from the spring. There is an additional wood-heated sauna by the pond, a dressing room with a fireplace, and a double sofa bed. Tap water comes from a spring and contains iron, which causes slight harm to the color and taste of the water, but the water is safe to drink (water has been examined). The client can bring drinking water if he wants.
During your vacation stay you can enjoy swimming, fishing (boat on site), hiking, and cross country skiing which is all possible from the house. This is an ideal holiday destination for families or a group of friends who love nature. The setting of the cabin is spectacular and the grounds are so vast that you can enjoy walking around the grounds or having an outside BBQ by the lake in the sheltered BBQ area. The sauna and sauna house by the lake are also major features of the cabin and will be enjoyed by all with the opportunity to also swim in both winter and summer straight from the pier. There are long stairs from the cottage to the pond and there is no maintenance for the stairs during winter. Distances to Pieni Karhunkierros trail is 9 kilometers, and Riisitunturi-fell 30 kilometers. Pets are allowed with an additional fee.
Ruka-Kuusamo is renowned for its natural beauty, a region of fells and forests in an almost untouched wilderness adorned by lakes, rivers, and rapids. Kuusamo is one of Finland’s major holiday destinations, attracting almost a million tourists each year. Many of these tourists arrive in the winter months to enjoy the excellent skiing available at the nearby ski resorts, especially Ruka Ski Resort, one of the largest in Finland, and international standing.
Kuusamo attracts more than just skiers, as the city is situated on a plateau approximately 250 meters above sea level, and from here the waters flow in five different directions, connecting it to the Barents Sea, the Gulf of Bothnia, and the Baltic. Surrounding Kuusamo there are thousands of lakes, rivers, rapids, canyons, and ancient forests that have remained untouched, all hemmed in by some of the most striking falls in all of Finland. This beautiful wilderness is home to some of Finland’s rarest species of animals and plants, including the large predators of the forests such as wolves, bears, and wolverines, and provides the nature lover with the chance to experience something truly unique. Because of its proximity to Russia, fauna and flora are diverse, comprising arctic, Siberian, and Southern species.
