You enter the cozy apartment through the rear entrance (which has a deadbolt) and then go downstairs to your vacation space where there is a door, but it does not have a working lock on it. The house upstairs also has a door that separates the home from the rear entrance. So you don't have to enter the owners living space to get to your apartment. The owners also frequently use the rear entrance through to get to the backyard, so that space is shared.
