The Old Smock Mill is a lovely four-story cabin building that has carefully been restored to a very high standard.
The owners have now have opened the ground floor so you can have another couple join you as an option. The ground floor of the windmill can only be booked with the upper holiday cabin as they are so close to one another. The ground floor website is Old Smock Mill Garden Hideaway. The Mill has eighteen-inch brick walls along with a white weather-boarded tower that stands out on the scenic landscape. The oak exterior staircase in the windmill leads up onto the beautiful staging where you enter into the Mill. The cabin building has massive beams that span each floor carrying the original upright shaft giant spur wheel and the sack hoist. This vacation rental is like nowhere you've stayed before, and is sure to make for a memorable place to stay. Each room in the windmill has been carefully designed to be comfortable and modern so all guests are well catered for. The windmill rental also includes a welcome basket that includes the owner's chickens organic eggs given upon arrival.
The bedroom has a French king-size bed with crisp white cotton sheets.
There is also a beautiful old copper basin sink and unique taps with a pulley system for hanging clothes. The cabin building has large beams that hold the iron giant spur wheel a stunning spiral staircase leads to the bathroom. The bathroom has a double-ended bath, a pedestal basin, and a toilet. There is a walk in wet room shower with under floor heating. The bathroom has white fluffy towels and locally made hand wash that is supplied. The kitchen has a washing machine/dryer, oven hob fridge/freezer, dishwasher, toaster, kettle and a variety of saucepans, frying pans, cutlery glass, and china. The living room has a comfortable leather sofa and 2 chairs, a television, a DVD player and wifi. There is also a gas wood-burning stove which is great to sit by in the evenings. The dining area has a round table and four chairs. The windmill vacation rental also has a barbecue, and central heating.
The local beach of this lovely windmill vacation rental is Camber sands which has fantastic dunes and wide-open sandy beaches.
The location lies close to the lovely Cinque Port town of Rye, which is well worth a day trip. There is also the seaside town of Hastings which is approximately 30 minutes away with famous fishing huts and the Jerwood Gallery. The old town is charming and full of unusual shops but the beach is mainly pebbles. Gatwick airport is 36 miles away, with Heathrow airport being 54 miles away. The Ports of Dover is 40 miles away and Folkstone 36 miles for the euro tunnel, making for an excellent location close to everything you need. A car is essential for getting around as the bus services in this area are intermittent.
