IdeaBox Could Be The Ikea of Prefab Eco Houses
Discover how IdeaBox combines affordability and sustainability in customizable prefab homes, making eco-friendly living accessible and enjoyable for everyone.

Introduction to IdeaBox and Its Offerings
IdeaBox is like the Ikea of prefab houses. The company makes designing home sound pretty simple and even fun. They have been around for 20 years and began in Salem, Oregon as a tiny house designer. Now they offer more practical and customizable full-size homes with a few different designs to choose from including the Confluence line which offers three models starting at $150,000 going all the way up to $205,000 which is pretty affordable for a brand new home. The C2 model is a 2 bedroom and 2 bathroom 937 square foot home the C2+ is another 2 bedroom, and 2 bathroom space with 1,181 square feet and the C3 offers 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms with 1,707 square feet. The design options for these homes are endless, and the customer can alter the plans however they see fit. They also offer the Fuse Series with an option of 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms with a slightly larger floor plan than the Confluence models at 1,380 square feet or a 3 bedroom and 2 bathroom home with 1,455 square feet.
Additional Options and Pricing
These models start at $188,000 and go all the way up to $194,000. The Haven Series starts at $142,000 and goes to $150,000. These are the smaller units that would be great as starter homes or cottages. There's a 1 bedroom and 1 bathroom option with 765 square feet; there's also an option to add on a 91 square foot porch for some extra outdoor space. Then there is the Haven 2 which is a 2 bedroom and 2 bathroom 915 square foot space. The Sage is a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom 1,259 square foot space starting at $175,000; the Roadrunner starts at $181,000 for 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms with 1,240 square feet. Then the Carlton is $198,000 with 2 bedrooms, and 2 bathrooms at 1,240 square feet and the Adu Series includes small spaces that range from $117,000 to $149,000 with 480 square feet to 560 square feet with the option of a 120 square foot porch.
Eco-Friendly Features and Building Considerations
Each of the models comes with eco-friendly and sustainable bamboo flooring, VOC-free paint, and energy-efficient construction. If you're considering building a prefab home on your property your first step is to find out what size and type of building you'll be able to fit on your property. It's crucial to know how your home will integrate into your property so that everything works seamlessly. The company will have a look at your building site with their 3D modelling program so they can see all of the views, slopes and access. This will also tell them the sun and shade patterns on the site which makes it easier to integrate passive solar elements into the design which takes advantage of the sun and shade as it changes throughout the year. It's also important to figure out your local building codes and the federal codes in your area and get the proper permitting you need to build your prefab home.
Budgeting for Your Prefab Home
When you're building any home, it's important to know your budget, so you don't end up going way over budget in your project. Of course, it may go over your budget a bit, but if you're prepared for that, then there might not be a problem. The company takes a $5,000 Project Deposit, but this is credited back on the final project invoice. Also, a 30% Deposit holds the production place in line so that your project will get started as soon as others are finished. With all of that in mind, you can have a realistic perspective as you browse around at some of the models that are available on their website and choose the best one for you.
