Of course, there is the warm and atmosphere each log home naturally has. Then there is the great aspect of these log homes being super energy efficient. Most of the log homes from Heim Log Homes are built in their own log building yard. This is where they build all of their log packages which include all of the logs for the walls, loft joists, trusses, purlins, ridge poles, decks, porches and gable ends. The log builders primarily use red pine and white spruce logs that come from the forests of Northern Minnesota measuring 12 inches to 24 inches in diameter. These logs are also cut in the winder which helps to reduce cracking. The logs are then hand peeled and treated with fungicide and then stored up on the skids to use in the springtime. All of the log homes from Heim Log homes are built following the scribe-fit building technique. That means these log homes and cabins won't have any chinking, but they are round notched and have double scribed lateral grooves. Once a log home is built at the company's yard, it's then taken apart and numbered as it's dismantled. They load them up on semi trucks and then transport them to the customer's building site where the home can then be reassembled in about 5 days.

The log builders also return once the logs have dried out completely to do all of the finishing work.

To get a general idea of the pricing a home that is around 896 square feet would cost about $44,800.00 for the shell, a 1,200 square foot home would be about $60,000.00 and a 1,632 square foot home would cost around $81,600.00 priced at $50.00 per square foot of the main floor. The prices always depend on the size of the home, the location and the floor plan and fixtures. may range depending upon size of the home, location and floor plan. The loft areas are an extra option, so the price is $30.00 per square foot for the loft space.
