Quality Amish Craftsmanship

The craftsmanship which goes into an Amish-built cabin is second-to-none. High-quality craftsmanship has been passed down from generation to generation, which makes Amish wood cabins stand out. Throughout North America, you will find Amish builders whose roots come from Europe. Handcrafting and fine woodworking was brought to the New World in the early 1700s where the Amish built massive timber frame barns and frame homes. The heritage of master crafting used trees from the forest.

Eco-Friendly Building Practices

Eco Friendly. Using natural building materials like wood and timber in cabin building is always going to be more environmentally friendly than using other building materials. So long as the wood comes from sustainable tree plantations, it's considered a very sustainable choice for cabin construction. If you have a piece of land that has a lot of trees on it, you could use the trees in building a wood cabin, which would be the most sustainable option. The next most sustainable option is to find building materials locally from local tree plantations and mills. Also, using recycled building materials is a very eco-friendly option, plus, you'll save money as well.

Energy Efficiency and Thermal Mass

Thermal Mass. A term you hear quite often when it comes to log cabin buildings is thermal mass. Log homes have high thermal mass potential since the logs store heat and then they release it when the temperatures in the cabin drop. The heat will not transfer either, so even though temperatures may be freezing outside, the air inside of the log cabin will stay nice and warm. This makes log cabin buildings and homes very energy efficient.
