Casa La Roja was built in 2018 and is located in San Jose de Maipo, Chile. The eco-building with its striking red color looks like a piece of art sitting in its natural setting. Everywhere you look in this beautiful home design looks like a piece of art from the exterior with its vertical red siding, to the interior with the vertical wooden panelling. The home design has a built-in covered patio that makes the perfect place to sit back and enjoy the view. Once inside you will find wooden vertical panelling on the walls with light floors and ceiling that reflects the red from the exterior. The floating stairs are another feature that works perfectly in this artfully designed modern home. Benefits of Passive Solar Design

This modern eco building uses passive solar design to benefit from its building site to heat and cool the home. Passive solar is named so because there are no wires, batteries or panels and nothing to break down. It's just about home design, and it's hardly a new concept. Humans around the world have been incorporating passive solar home design features into their homes for thousands of years. Active solar energy refers to any system that has solar panels whether it be thermal solar or photovoltaic power generation. According to NASA, each day the sun provides the earth with about 10,000 times the total energy that is consumed by humans. A passive solar house is a home that has been designed to take advantage of the sun. Passive solar heating is an eco-building design feature that will help to save you money while improving your quality of life. Artificial lighting in homes affects the natural human biorhythms and can reduce your ability to concentrate and lead to fatigue.

Energy Savings and Comfort

Passive eco buildings allow for heating and cooling related energy savings of up to 90 percent compared with standard home designs and over 75 percent compared with average new builds. Similar energy savings can also be achieved in warm climates where buildings require more energy for cooling than they do for heating. Passive home designs are also known for their high level of comfort. Passive solar homes use solar heat that enters the building during the day which makes heating a lot easier. Appropriate window placement with good insulation and a building shell that consists of good insulated exterior walls, floor and roof slab keep the heat in the house during winter in the house and keep it out during summer. A ventilation system consistently supplies the passive home design with fresh air making for superior air quality without causing any sort of unpleasant draughts.
