You Will Enjoy This Log Cabin Project Built by One Man

Building an Off-Grid Cabin in Alaska

You will want to watch the full video of how one man in Alaska built a cabin. This is a remote cabin in the middle of the Alaska Range. It is completely off the grid. The timelapse video is of his Alaskan cabin project. It is a compilation taken from 35 separate videos (of the entire build) published on his YouTube channel over the past year. You can find all 35 videos on the channel under the My Alaskan Log Cabin Project playlist. The builder is an Alaskan who has lived in Alaska for over 50 years (mostly in log cabins). At 10 years old the builder worked with his father building their family's off-grid, log cabin. He has never lost my love for the trade and has created a set of blueprints for this cabin. They are now available for purchase along with a complete building material list. You'll want to note the disclaimer on the cabin blueprints states that the builder is not an architect or engineer.

A Family Legacy in the Wilderness

The little helper in the video is the builder's grandson Drox. The guitar music is by his father Eric. The builder grew up at a remote Alaskan lodge. They had no indoor plumbing or electricity. They heated only with wood. His father was trapped and his mother homeschooled the children. That was over half a century ago. The builder is now a grandfather but is still in love with Alaska, and he wants to give you a glimpse into his family's simple lifestyle in the Last Frontier. The family still spends much of their time in the remote cabin. It is still off the grid. You'll be sure to love this inspiring video and may find yourself dreaming of an off-grid cabin of your own. The master cabin builder did an amazing job.

Embracing Off-Grid Life

It doesn't get much better than the beautiful location of the wood cabin. If you feel inspired by the cabin build you'll want to watch the other videos on the YouTube channel to catch a glimpse of the off-grid cabin life. In one video after the cabin build you'll find Drox and the builder visiting the cabin for a weekend in the mountains. They are trying to get as much done as they can before the snows come.

Final Touches Before Winter

In the video, they don't have more than a couple of weeks of summer left before everything turns white. In the video, they sprayed finish on the side of the cabin (that was sanded a couple of weeks before) and got a coat on the sauna too. Not too bad for a couple of misfits. The salmon are completely spawned out now. They have turned bright red, and are back in the little creek where they were hatched years ago. These are one of the world's most amazing fish and it always feels a bit reverent to observe them at this stage of their lives. In the video, they are headed up the Yukon with the builder's youngest son (Tommy).
