This off-grid, timber tree eco-lodge sits in the peaceful surroundings of Swinton Park Estate in North Yorkshire. They are sitting amongst 20,000 acres of wooded countryside. At every stage of the cabin building design and build of the Swinton Bivouac, there is a combination of natural style with comfort that has been their fundamental guiding force. Unique to the building site, the tree-lodge cabin buildings echo the philosophy. The eco-lodge is designed by founders Sam Hardwick and Rudi Meseg. The durable and environmentally sound timber-frame cabin buildings create a distinctive look and feel, with exterior larch cladding. The cabin buildings are set in woodland, allowing you to get close to nature, while still enjoying the comfort and practicality to enjoy the sweeping view across the dale and the rolling Yorkshire countryside.
The Mongolian inspired yurts are perfect for the Yorkshire climate, and the Bivouac Meadow Yurts have been hand made with care in the United Kingdom and have some unique features. The yurts are sage green in color and were designed to blend into their pastureland setting. The natural canvas used on the yurts is waterproof, designed to ensure that you stay dry and warm or cool and sheltered throughout the year. The yurts are seasonal and are available from the beginning of April through to the end of October. The farmhouse and barn which is home to the cafe, The Snug, The Loft, shower facilities and shop have been thoughtfully restored, with the original features with an authentic sense of warmth retained.
The tree cabin buildings are hidden away and secluded in the woodland which is a five-minute walk from the bivouac shop and the cafe. The tree cabin buildings provide an intimate, rustic, truly authentic, back to nature setting for a holiday in the Yorkshire. The tree cabin buildings can sleep up to seven people (one king-size double, one double and three singles). The tree lodges come with gas-rings for cooking, bed linen and hot water. However they are un-electrified, so pack wisely. Included in the tree cabin buildings is a king size double bed, one double and three single beds. Bed linen is also included in the wood cabin.
The tree lodge has an eclectic mix of hand made and preloved artifacts, with an open plan layout living area, a wood burning stove to keep the wood cabin warm, with gas rings to cook on. They also provide wood to fuel your fire. There is also a kitchenette area with sink, wooden veranda with stunning views of the surrounding valley, ensuite WC and gas heated shower with hot running water. All of the eco-lodges have windows that allow you to enjoy the views from inside and solid wood lockable doors that provide you with peace of mind as you head out and explore the Yorkshire Dales. There is also a handmade communal outdoor kitchen that is equipped with gas rings, seating area and a toilet too. The scenic location is beautiful and one that you won't soon forget.
