When it came to log cabin building the trees were cut down then made into logs to be used in wood cabin. Straight tree trunks were made for good logs in the wood cabins. The logs for the cabin buildings were cut to the right width, and the right length and notches were also cut at each end of the log. The bark had to be removed from the logs, as they tended to rot over time.
