Madisonville is a small city in eastern Tennessee, home to an eclectic collection of things to see and do. The city is the birthplace of Estes Kefauver, inviting travelers to visit America's largest underground lake, where you will get a chance to see rare anthodites, colloquially called cave flowers, that look like crystalline chrysanthemums. The following are some of the other things to do in the area during your vacation stay.

The Lost Sea. Hidden in the underground labyrinth known as Craighead Caverns is The Lost Sea, America's largest underground lake. The caverns are open for tours all year-round except for Christmas Day. The standard tour involves a trek through 3/4 mile of caverns, followed by a ride on the lake in a glass-bottomed boat. The Lost Sea has additional tours like the Flashlight Tour, which extends into the only undeveloped part of the caves, and an overnight tour spent camping out at the caverns.
