This tiny cabin building might just be the best place you'll ever stay in.
The small cottage plan is located close to Buoardalur, Dalasysla, Iceland and can accommodate up to 4 guests with one bedroom, 4 beds, and one bathroom. During your vacation stay, you'll have the entire cabin building to yourself. If you are lucky you might even see the Northern Lights. The small cottage plan is located in West Iceland, which is about 80 miles from the city of Reykjavik on a mountain hill of 660 feet above sea level.
600 acres that belong to Kolsstaoir which is located in a remote and unspoiled natural setting in the mountains of West Iceland. Part of the year, depending on the season in which you visit, you have animals as your neighbors to include sheep from June to October, horses June to December and occasionally the arctic fox which is all year round. Kolsstaoir is an ideal spot for hiking, meditating, outdoor and creative activities as well as observing the beautiful Northern lights when they are visible from October to April. Hiking trails can also be found just steps away from the small cottage plan, which are hundreds of year-old sheep trails that go in all directions for your private encounter.
The view is broad out to the ocean, towards the surrounding mountains and then into the valleys.
It takes about 15 minutes to drive to Buoardalur, a small village where you can shop for most of the necessities you need at the grocery store, pharmacy, and liquor store. You will also find some local restaurants and a handicraft store in the village. Laugar, Saelingsdal is about 20 miles away and you'll find a natural pool tub, which is open 24 hours and is free of charge. There is also a geothermal swimming pool with a hot tub just around the corner from the natural pool that costs about 900 kr per person, with the hours varying depending on the season. The small cottage plan is designed in the old Icelandic country style but has a modern wood stove and a well equipped modern style kitchen. The ground floor is a single space that has a sleeping sofa. Upstairs there is a sleeping attic with two beds, one queen-sized bed, and one single bed.
It is recommended that you visit the nearby fjords for bird watching and the occasional seal.
You can tour around the Snaefellsnes peninsula, to the west fjords along with the west Iceland inland valleys such as the Langjokull glacier, Krauma spa, Husafell, and Hraunfossar/barnafoss waterfalls. Some sightseeing can be done when you driving to or from or towards Kolsstaoir from the city of Reykjavik. There are well-paved roads most of the way. Except for about 2 miles of gravel road. You could consider driving Whalefjord instead of taking the tunnel for a more scenic 45 min longer drive. Kolsstaoir is designed in an old Icelandic small cottage style. It is a good size with a sleeping attic with a double bed. Downstairs there is a sleeping sofa, with a modern fire stove you can buy firewood at most gas stations and a well-equipped kitchen. There is a strong wifi Internet connection. The bathroom has a shower.
