When a home is made from logs, you are effectively taking the carbon that is contained in those logs out of the environmental circulation over the entire life of the log home. Moreover, some log home and timber home producers harvest standing dead timber which is done by pesky insects, or purchase the logs from forests certified as sustainable. Some builders are constructing log and timber homes to green building standards as well. Fit the Land.

Since a log home's building material comes from nature, the resulting log house structures blend into their natural location perfectly. Log home designs naturally integrate right into the landscape, rather than being imposed on it. Long Lasting.

The log and timber home industry has countless stories of log homes that have successfully weathered the worst weather Mother Nature can dish out including hurricanes, and more. Energy Efficient. Provided the log home is sealed properly including between the foundation and the first course of logs, between log-to-log connections, and where the roof system meets the log wall, a log home can be a super energy-efficient home.

Thermal Mass. Logs are warm to the touch as wood has something called thermal mass, which is a natural property in the logs that helps to keep the inside temperatures of log homes comfortable in all seasons. This allows the log walls to collect and store energy, then radiate it back into the log home. A log home is cooler in the warm summer months, and warmer in the colder winter months.
