There are several benefits to building a timber frame home, with a variety of floor plans and styles to best suit you. One benefit of timber-framed homes is that they can offer wide spacing between the bents and the posts which allow for some freedom in the placement of the windows and doors which allows for larger than average areas for windows. Timber-framed homes are also energy efficient.

With the option of enclosing the timber frame architectural designs with some insulated wall and roof panels, the timber frame design becomes highly energy efficient which will help to reduce heating and cooling costs. Timber-frame homes are typically stronger and more durable, as there are no load-bearing walls in these structures, which also allows for changes to the floor plan with no structural consequences.

There are also environmental benefits to building a timber frame home as less wood is often used than in a stud-wall structure, and with the use of sustainable building materials, such as local wood, you can contribute to a lower carbon footprint and lower cost to the environment. The timber frame building process creates almost no waste, and when you compare that with standard building sites, you'll find less waste at the construction site which means less pressure on waste treatment plants/landfills. Using wood also offers a much more healthy living environment.
