Over the years, while living out of their house truck, they have developed the land, growing orchards and gardens on a mission to move towards self-sufficiency and food independence. This venture has been so successful, that they have now even built a farm store that helps to supply their local community. Brent and Greer are living proof that with creativity and a lot of hard work, it's still possible to make the off-grid, tiny house dream come true for a reasonable cost. The following are some of the benefits of living off the grid. Self-Sufficiency.

Living off the grid is all about living a self-sufficient lifestyle, one that is not dependent on outside resources because you create your resources thereby reducing or eliminating your dependence on the system. Sustainable Living. It's about living more sustainably. Without constantly consuming resources, you will be producing more than you consume. This has the added benefit of not only providing for your family but contributing to your local community.

Practical Living. Living off the grid is more practical because when you reduce, reuse, and recycle, you stretch the use of resources to their maximum purpose. Smaller Footprint. Living off the grid means you don't use as many resources as most people, and it cuts down on waste.

Less Impact on the Planet. When you're off-grid, you live your life more in tune with nature, and as such, have less of a negative impact on the planet. Renewable Energy. The use of renewable energy only makes sense. Using an energy source that is not renewable is absurd.

Fossil fuels are not renewable, at least at the rate, the world is consuming them. So it makes sense to use completely renewable sources of energy, and those resources can be shared. Renewable energy is also more sustainable long term, and that's just smart living. Uses Less Resources. Living off grid consumes fewer resources.

When you live off the grid you create more resources than you use, and this benefits the local community. Avoids Consumerism and Waste. Consumption of resources is running rampant, and needless waste is at an all-time high. To reduce waste and consumerism it's much better to create and produce resources. When you live a sustainable and renewable lifestyle you help keep consumption to a minimum and sets a great example for others.
