One of the reasons for this is the energy efficiency of log cabins. One of the best features of a log cabin is that when you heat the logs they radiate warmth back into the cabin room which increases energy efficiency. In warmer climates, this works in reverse, so when the sun is beating down on the exterior of the log cabin it doesn't transfer that heat to the interior and keeps you cooler in the warm summer months. While during the colder months the log cabin building keeps you cozy and warm due to the thermal mass of the logs.

Thermal Mass is the ability of the logs in a cabin to absorb and store energy. In the case of a log wall, the stored energy is radiated back into the room when the interior temperature falls. The thicker the log wall, the greater your thermal mass and the more energy efficient your log cabin will be.
