The tiny cabin building was built in their workshop in Scotland, commissioned by a yoga teacher from Glasgow who had trouble finding a building solution that would help protect the integrity of the tiny building site and preserve its trees. The tiny house on wheels was shipped to the remote building site on the island of Crete, where the off-grid hideaway now sits amongst the olive trees. The tiny cabin building suits its location perfectly opening up to reveal a beautiful spruce lined living space, with scenic ocean views.

The tiny house building was designed to fit its building site with minimal environmental impact and to help satisfy a local planning requirement that stipulated that the tiny building should be on wheels. Measurements were taken to help plot the position of the ancient trees on the site, and the tiny cabin building was designed to sit between the ancient trees and so the home would fit the dimensions of a single lorry for the long trip to Crete.

The tiny house on wheels was then transferred onto a Hiab for the final leg of the journey down the dusty, single lane roads, and was finally craned into its site between three ancient olive trees. Members of the Echo Living team installed the tiny house on wheels, overseeing its careful delivery and installation, and putting the final finishing touches to the interior and the exterior of the cabin. The tiny house design sits in the olive grove under the trees dappled shade, with the tiny white cabin echoing the buildings located in the village on the hills above.

The eco cabin building has a minimal aesthetic and is an off-grid house. The tiny cabin building is powered by solar panels and is heated on the cooler evenings, and occasionally snowy, winter months, by its small wood burning stove.

The main entrance door of the tiny house leads into the rear of the cabin building, and it opens out to the front, with its double sliding doors opening onto the timber decking for indoor-outdoor living and cooling breezes. The tiny cabin has open shelving and hand-built, a compact kitchen that is suspended in front of the large windows. There is also a timber wall to the side of the tiny kitchen that pivots open to extending the living space onto an adjacent decking for outdoor dining.

The stove and the flue sit on a slate hearth in front of a tiled fireplace which helps to separate the small bed space from the sitting area. The cabin building has a discreet double bed space that is on a raised platform and has a little wardrobe, some shelves and a built-in bedside table with a reading light and view to the sea.
