All logs need a stain to protect them from the sun's harmful UV rays, so you can think of the stain as the sunscreen for your log house. So whenever you're building a log home, it's also important to remember to include things like stains, and also to learn more about log home maintenance so you can keep your log home looking beautiful log after the log builders have completed their work. Even though many people love a natural look, stains with less pigment in them will also have lower protection from the sun.

So Norlog will help you choose the best stain for your log home as well as building the log home. Some of the other log building products they have to offer include SPAX® PowerLags® which are screws that will hold the materials of the home in place. These special screws increase efficiency and reliability for log home and timber frame construction. The screws are threaded to eliminate the need for pre-drilling so the installation speed can increase.

Even though the company doesn't have their own crew of log builders, they can help customers figure out what needs to be done and how to do the work themselves. Another option is to have the work done by a professional log builder which the company can help connect you with. Since log home restoration is a specialty, the log builder must have experience. Some of the advice from Norlog Building Systems includes not just getting one quote.

It's important to get at least 3 different quotes from different log builders and to ask a lot of questions in the process. Also, always choose a log builder who specializes in restorations or log building specifically. Logs are different than regular building materials and require different techniques. Even though the price may seem high, remember that you're getting what you pay for, so don't be afraid to pay more for good service and by the same token, don't accept anything less than the best quality work for your money.
