Golden Eagle Log & Timber Homes is a Wisconsin based log builder that has been around for over 50 years. The family-owned and run business was started in 1966 by Wally and Marlace Parmeter, and at first, it was a building supply company called Golden Eagle Building Center in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin. Now the log builders design and build gorgeous log and timber houses all across the nation.

They made good use of all of the knowledge that they had gained from building conventionally framed homes and pursued their own dream of building a log house to raise their family in. As they went through the process of building their own log home, they carefully selected the trees that would be used to build their log home as well as the land where their home would be set in place. As they built their log home, people would stop by to admire the work, and some even approached them to comment on their craftsmanship.

So they began to provide log home packages to people, and their business began. By 1986, Wally and Marlace decided to pursue their love of log home construction by officially founding Golden Eagle Log Homes. Their sons, Jay and Tod Parmeter, cleared some land, built the shop, and then purchased and installed all of the necessary machinery to provide the clientele with their own custom log homes. It's pretty incredible to learn about how this family built their business from the ground up, knowing that they built their own log home first and continued on from there.
