With a custom-built wood cabin, you have the option of having the wood visible on both the outer and/or the inner walls of your cabin building. There is a look of both beauty and strength when you are surrounded by perfectly placed timbers that give a sense of safety and comfort while also adding to the wood cabins character. Some other benefits of timber frame wood cabins include the speed in which these home designs can be built.

The limited number of load-bearing walls in the timber frame cabin building allows for more flexibility and changes to the wood cabin floor plan. There is also a tendency to use less wood and sustainable building materials when you are constructing a timber frame cabin which allows for a lower carbon footprint and lower cost to the environment. Recycled and local wood can be used in a timber frame cabin building, while what little timber waste there is can further be recycled.

A timber frame cabin design is just one of the styles of wood cabins you can choose. As with any wood cabin design you want to make sure that your cabin building is finished properly, as it can swell, shrink or shift with the changes in the water absorption throughout your wood cabin design. It always helps to work with a professional wood cabin builder who will help you ensure that the builders are taking into consideration that the timer or logs may shrink, twist or shift and can ensure proper precautions are in place.
