Sometimes there's an older home or building that just needs a bit of sprucing up to bring it back to life, and this barn was definitely one of those projects. Heritage Restorations tried to keep as much of the original building as possible which is always important in restorations.

They restored the exterior of the barn giving it some new and beautiful barn red siding to honour classic barn design. Since the barn was pretty small, they were able to do this project for a very affordable price, and they also implemented a lot of recycled and reclaimed materials to keep the cost low and to keep some of the old charm intact. The home measures 14 feet wide by 24 feet long, so it's pretty tiny making it perfect for a guest house.

It could also be a great starter sized house or a studio space too. The home is 226 square feet, and it does look rather small from the exterior, but once you see inside, you'll see how well they used the space within.

For the front of the home, they added two sets of new French doors with glass inserts to open the small home up to the lovely porch built onto the front of the house. The porch screams country cottage with the old reclaimed wood posts and the lanterns hanging from the awning.

There's a table and chair set which offers the perfect place to sit out and enjoy a cup of coffee or a meal, or just watch the world go by. They also added a nice bench swing on the patio as well because what's a country porch without a porch swing? They stuck with the steel roofing which also matches the style of a classic barn and kept all of the trim white to go with the red.

Inside, the home is stunning, and even more spacious than you'd think it would be just from looking at the exterior. The ceilings are 21 feet high which really opens the living area up making the entire home feel open and airy.

They kept some of the original wood and left the beams and wood exposed on the ceiling. Then, hanging in the living area is a large old wagon wheel that was made into a large rustic chandelier hanging from an old rope pulley system.

It's touches like this that really make a country house a home. The inviting and open living space features the living room through one set of French doors and the kitchen through the other set of French doors. The living room includes a great open space for furniture and a desk and then for the lovely spiral staircase that leads up to the second-floor loft.
