The team is most well-known for several of their incredible projects including Aquas Perma Solar Firma which is the home you see here. They break each of their projects down into smaller tasks and include the customer all along the way.

They start out with the design first, allowing there to be a collaboration between the customer and their designers to find the best floor plan and layout. Then, they work to get the approvals and permits so they can begin construction of the project. For the Aquas Perma Solar Firma, the company was approached by the owners of a home in Sydney.

The owners really wanted to have a home that was sustainable, and that would allow them to incorporate some aspects of homesteading into their lives in the city. So together they created a manifestation of the vision for a unique, eco-friendly, and sustainable home that worked in the area it was built in. The home was small, but that doesn't mean much when it comes to design because there are plenty of ways to make a smaller house feel larger.

The designers did this by making excellent use of the vertical space within the home. They added an array of windows and timber beams as well as a spiral stair and a garden on the inside of the home.

So not only is the home itself very efficient, but it also implements ways to make it carbon neutral as well. They also created a central courtyard which provides easy access to green space and planters where the customers can grow their own produce. The inside of the home also functions very efficiently with multiple purposes including an entertaining space, a home office space and other areas that can be transformed for varying purposes.

They also installed a custom adjustable table to use for dining or projects. It's a large bench with three smaller tables that all have adjustable legs. So they can be used for eating, working, standing and more.

In the back yard or courtyard, they have also created a space for chickens to live so much like a homestead; the owners are able to have their own chicken and eggs. The building process lasted about 12 months with this gorgeous home being the end result.

This is such a great idea for people living in cities who want more of a back to basics lifestyle. As our world gets busier and more expensive, some people have the urge to slow down rather than speed up. Homes like this could be the perfect solution.

Not everyone can afford a piece of land to start a homestead on, but many people can afford a mortgage on a small home like this that they can renovate, bring up to date and transform into a sustainable homestead. There are even ways that a condo or apartment can incorporate homesteading values like growing your own food on your balcony and using solar-powered options. Of course, chickens might not be the best idea in an apartment situation though.
