Kerr Creek A Classic Barn Home Style With A Contemporary Touch
Discover the perfect blend of classic barn aesthetics and modern living in the Kerr Creek home, designed for comfort and style in a serene natural setting.

Overview of Kerr Creek Barn Home
The Kerr Creek is a stunning classic barn home with a lot of modern style implemented. This single story home was built by Yankee Barn Homes and features 2,482 square feet of living space. The home is a post and beam timber frame with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, open concept living space and a living room with cathedral ceilings and huge picture windows for incredible views. From the outside, the home looks like a typical barn home; it's even painted red which is the case for many barns around the world. The red paint is a quintessential colour for log homes not just because people liked how it looked, but also for preservation purposes and affordability. The red colour was usually caused by adding rust to the paint they used since it was abundant on farms, and because it helps to keep things like mould and insects away from the wood, preserving the barn. So they used the red rust-tinted paint as a sealant to protect the wood, not just as a colour, although the colour has stuck around since and people seem to continue to paint their barns, and even barn homes, in this case, rust or deep red. The colour on this home is a lovely deep red that looks beautiful on the home and complements the country setting out in nature surrounded by trees and grass.
Exterior Features and Layout
The front of the home doesn't have many windows on it, but it does include a two car garage with navy blue doors, and the entrance into the home would also be through the garage or through the back since there doesn't appear to be a front entrance on the home. Around the back of the home is where the magic happens, with plenty of windows and deck space as well as a view of the beautiful stone built chimney for the fire place within the home. There's a patio on the main floor with access to the basement and then an upper deck with access to the main floor. Inside, the home is bright and airy, yet very cozy thanks to all of the warm-toned wood throughout the home and the exposed beams and posts. The living room is a very open space with great windows and the fireplace right in the centre of the room in between the windows. The dining area is also right in front of this fireplace which is the perfect place to cozy up for a great dinner. The kitchen is also nearby with plenty of cabinet space and a large island with stools at it. Plus, there is also a kitchen table for eating in the kitchen as well. The fridge is concealed in the cabinetry hidden behind the same panelling as the cabinets, and the oven and microwave are built right into the cabinets. Then, the range has a counter of its own with lots of cabinet space for storage.
Upper Floor Features and Design Elements
The upper floor of this barn home features another great seating area with a great collection of books, and the bedrooms are close by as well with high ceilings and incredible views of the property. The bathrooms are designed to be much like a spa with a bathtub and a spa shower as well as a sink and a toilet. They also added a skylight in one of the bathrooms above the tub for views of the sky and the trees above. Overall, this is a gorgeous barn home design and would make for a lovely home for a family or even a vacation home for a family. Yankee Barn Homes did an incredible job on this design and build which is why they are one of the leading barn home companies in the United States. The company was created by Emil Hanslin in 1969 as a custom-design and build timber frame home builder. He always loved the look of old barns, and so he merged that with a timber frame home building to create the fabulous homes you see them building today. The company has tons of experience in the barn home building business, and they've even developed a trademarked roof and wall panel system that makes their barn homes more efficient and thermoregulated.
