Introduction to Timberstone Log Homes

You'll be sure to love this tiny log home ready for its new home in Arkansas. The customer wanted to finish the inside. Built by Timberstone Log Homes, located in Mountain Grove, Missouri the builders specialize in custom log home kits. All of their logs are hauled in and stripped of bark, sprayed with borate, and air-dried. They mill flat on both sides of the log making it easier to work with as well as ensuring stability. The corners are swooped and scribed to give the beauty of the full log, unlike the generic butt and pass technique. Once the kit is done, they spray the logs down again with borate to keep the bugs and mold away. Their log house kits include a pre-fitted log skeleton and are priced with delivery and setup. If you are looking for a contractor to build your new log home, you want to be sure and do your research first to find the right contractor for your special project. Building a log cabin or log home is a very unique process and requires a skill that most general contractors don't possess.

Service Area and Log Quality

Timberstone Log Homes proudly serve Osage Beach, Lake Ozark, Jefferson City, Rolla, and Springfield in Missouri as well as many communities in Arkansas and Tennessee with their custom log home needs. The logs used for their log house designs are native yellow pine. All of the trees are grown in the Ozarks within a 100-mile radius of Timberstone Log Homes' business location. The logs for their log home kits are air-dried for 8 to 12 months. This allows the moisture in the logs to evaporate and makes for less log shrinkage and less settling when setting up your log home. As for treating the logs for pests, the company uses a product called Tim-Bor Professional. It is a water-soluble, inorganic borate salt with insecticidal and fungicidal properties. Each log is treated 3 times.

Durability and Maintenance of Pine Log Homes

Many people wonder if pine log homes rot easier than other species, and the answer to that is no, not if the log home is properly built and cared for. Timberstone Log Homes build their eves with a 30-inch overhang to keep rainwater away from the log home. If you choose to stain the exterior of your log home, they recommend a stain product without a water sealant. Wood needs to be able to breathe, if it's unable to dry out, the wood will become rotten.

Features of Log Home Kits

The log home kits include a log structure complete with a log stairway and floor joists in place for a loft. The log home kits can be customized to fit your dreams, just give them a call, and they will be happy to work with you.
