Plan an incredible and unforgettable journey to The Sacred Valley of the Incas also known as the Urubamba Valley in the Andes mountains of Peru.
The closest city is Cusco, and it was incorporated into the Inca Empire from 1000 to 1400 CE. This is the valley where Machu Picchu, a world-famous archaeological site is located. The Incas lived in the Cusco area and were attracted to this land because of the lower in elevation and warmer climate which helped them grow food crops to feed their people. Shop Tiny Homes Maize was their most abundant crop, and they made food and chicha which is a fermented drink that was had at ceremonies and celebrations. The land was divided into three portions, one which was for the emperor, Sapa Inca, one for the religious establishment, and one for the farmers and community. By the 1400s, the Sacred Valley was an area with many royal estates and country homes. There was the estate of Yawar Waqaq at Paullu and Lamay; there was also Huchuy Qosqo, estate to emperor Viracocha Inca, the estate of Pachacuti was at Pisac and the ruins of Quispiguanca. Then the estate of Huayna Capac was in Urubamba. It's believed that Machu Picchu was an estate for Pachacuti. In 1537 there was the Battle of Ollantaytambo against a Spanish army which the Incas won. But shortly after, the area was under rule by Spanish colonialists. The area continues to be home to many Indigenous Incan people as well as Peruvians, but it is also a major tourist area as well.
So if you're thinking of travelling to this area and want to stay in an eco home emersed in nature instead of one of the tourist areas, this would be the best place to stay.
This listing is for the Dome Room in the Sacred Valley, more specifically in Pisac. It's owned by a local family who has been living in the area since 2004. They love the sweet little town, and they have other accommodations for people to rent out as well. Everyone falls in love with the area and the ancient Quechua people, all of the tradition, the scenery and the slower pace of life. Besides visiting Machu Picchu, you can do many amazing hikes around the land to Pachatusan mountain and also a waterfall or the famous SeƱor de Huanca church in the mountain. The earth abode is perfect for two people or for a single person. Made out of clay and earth, the building is shaped into a dome with beautiful sculptures all over it. It looks like something from the past, but also very modern and earthy. There is one double bed inside the dome room with all linens, as well as a private bathroom with a hot shower. There's also a little kitchen area and drinking well water. You will also have wifi access in the garden just outside of the dome room too.
Located right at the base of Apu Pachatusan in a conscious community called La Pacha, this is a very peaceful place to spend your days in Peru.
There are a few different places to stay on the property including another dome room. Plus, there are beautiful gardens which guests have access to. There's also a playground for kids and a temple too. The family who owns the domes lives right next door so they can help you as needed, and recommend things to do. This would be a great place to stay for those who want something out of the ordinary and wish to have a quiet relaxing journey off the regular path.
