The Satellite House Complex, designed by Javier Senosiain, is one of the best examples of Mexican organic architectural design.
The complex was influenced by architects such as Gaudi, Hundertwasser, and Frank Lloyd Wright. Senosian is also heavily influenced by Mexican experimental Modernists such as Felix Candela or Juan O’Gorman, all of which seek a philosophy of architectural design that promotes harmony between man’s habitat and the natural world. The unique tiny house designs are like nothing you've seen before, looking like the homes have always been a part of their natural surroundings, with domed windows throughout, and beautifully planted with flowers and landscaping that further add to the appeal. The property located in Ciudad Satelite, Mexico, is a small set of 4 tiny houses, with the land having an elevation difference of approximately 5 feet concerning the street that was used to semi-bury the tiny houses.
Upon arriving at the unique complex, there is an undulating facade that, by chance, forms the image of two eagles with open wings that surround the four pedestrian entrances to receive their inhabitants. This small complex of four tiny houses is located in Ciudad Satelite, on the outskirts of Mexico City. The inclination of the building lot, which rises approximately 5 feet above street level, was used to partially bury the tiny house units. As you approach the complex, the architectural design resembles two eagles with outspread wings that seem to envelop the four pedestrian entrances. Senosaiain thinks that green architectural design cannot only be about technique or engineering or efficiency, there also needs to be spatial sensibility, and says that architecture should always be fun.
Bioarchitectural design investigates, from various angles, the natural principles of both animal and human buildings, and compiles, for the first time, much of the knowledge that gives rise to and makes up the organic architectural design.
The essence of the search remains the same. It studies the natural principles of animal and human constructions from several different perspectives and presents a great part of the knowledge that gives origin and shape to built form. Organic architectural offers a design approach arising from natural principles, bringing you back to local history, tradition, and cultural roots to give built forms that are in harmony with nature. It also shows how architects can take advantage of the resources that contemporary technology has placed within their grasp.
Javier Senosiain’s deep love for nature is mixed with a playful creative mind and a nod to Barcelona’s best-loved architect Antoni Gaudi and has inspired his breathtaking creations since the early 80′s.
One of his more well-known homes, the Nautilus House in Mexico City, was inspired by the shape of a shell. Senosiain's own home was built to resemble a shark and has no straight angles to be found which is one of the most prominent features that is loved about his work. The Satellite Complex is his 1995 project located on the outskirts of Mexico City, the complex is made up of 4 houses.
